"Kansas Caravan to Yoga Retreat"

Organized by Shannon Gorres, with a group of 6-10 lovely folks.

*In order to welcome you on this international caravan, I need some experience with you or a trusted referral.*

This ashram has been transformative for me, because of the deep lineage of classical yoga and vedanta. The swamis (monks) are gentle, solid, and inspiring. I love the Sivananda motto: Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Meditate, Realize. They honor all religious paths. This ashram supports a wide range of physical and mental levels; you can make your day as relaxed or intense as you want it to be.

Sivanandabahamas.org/about-the-ashram says:

"We offer a rare combination of traditional ashram and modern yoga retreat. More than just a yoga center, we are an ashram, a spiritual community and study center, established in 1967 by Swami Vishnudevananda.

Our yoga vacation daily schedule is the same everyday and designed to fully immerse you into the yogic lifestyle and experience the benefits. No one is required to attend the full schedule, but we do ask that you take part in one of our yoga classes and attend at least one satsang a day."

You can see Program details by putting in "January" or "February" to the calendar: Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat Bahamas – Program Calendar & Course Schedule (sivanandabahamas.org)

Yoga Vacation programs are included in the lodging cost.

Experiential courses have an additional fee.

You do not need to go with our group in order to visit the ashram. It is open for booking by individuals anytime.

Reasons to go with a group:

1. Shannon will teach you about Satsang before we go (what the chants mean, how the lineage approaches teachings), as well as the yogic 5 points, and plan logistics (and can help you decide what to pack!). This can really sweeten your experience.

2. Support in not traveling alone (for example, getting a taxi or swimming in the ocean).

3. People to share and process the experience with (at brunch and dinner conversations and more).

4.  Save lodging cost if you want to share a bedroom with a roommate.  Also, If we have 10 people, we'd all get a 10% discount.

5. People to continue to grow with after returning home (ongoing conversation about what it means in your life).

Retreat cost: $2,000-3,000.

At our meetings I'll share a cost breakdown and your lodging options, estimated costs for 6 days and 5 nights.

  • Options for shoestring budget: Fly separately on a $450 Southwest flight leaving at 5:40am.  Choose a tenting option $325/week(bring your own)- $640(provided tent hut with full size bed).  Request an income-based reduction for the Group organizing fee.

Shannon has prepped:

1. Contacted the Ashram to confirm availability and lodging options, and put together this info package.

2. Researched which winter dates offer the most affordable flights and great ashram programs.

3. Spent 6 weeks at the ashram over 3 trips, learning a lot.

4. Spent 15 years practicing yoga and facilitating workshops.

Let's thrive together!!!
